The Rain Descending

Another day, the skies open their mouths,

Another day, you dwell among us,

You give life to this land, and all appears sound,

But in your gaze, I’m more lost than found.

The sun hesitates to show her deserving face,

All because you appear as everything beyond our meaning of grace.

Break the will of our droughts, let a river’s life commence,

But my scarred youth will always know the difference.

The lightning that screamed my dead mother’s name,

The raging winds that withered my blooming might,

And the darkness,

Oh the darkness, that reminds me of the dreams that never came.

I suddenly hear your awaited silence,

The waning away of your damned presence.

But like a plague so undying, Rain you descend once again

By my hand, you’d cease to exist,

In my mind, you’d be far from missed,

But whenever I look at the greener trees, I cage myself until your next reign.
